There’s been a lot of talk regarding Battlefield 3′s PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 differences ever since the shooter was confirmed. All the footage that has been released for the title have come from the PC version only. Now, DICE has themselves stated that the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 will be the same.
Game Info
GAME NAME: Battlefield 3
DEVELOPER(S): DICE
PUBLISHER(S): EA
PLATFORM(S): PS3, Xbox 360, PC
GENRE(S): First-Person Shooter
RELEASE DATE(S): Fall, 2011 (Rumored to be early November)
DICE’s Patrick Bach – Executive Producer on the hotly-anticipated installment in the Battlefield franchise – told the sexy folks at MSXBOX-World during a recent interview:
Our philosophy is to not to talk about things we cannot prove and this is true also when it comes to the quality of the Xbox 360 version of the game. All of the core game systems (animation, destruction, rendering, audio etc.) are the same on all platforms so there will not be a difference when it comes to the general experience of the game. Some technicalities will of course be different due to larger memory and the graphics cards you can have on the PC. We are trying to push the envelope of FPS games in general and this will be obvious in all versions of the game. Looking back to what quality we achieved with Battlefield Bad Company 2 last year we do know how to make high quality games on all platforms.
It’s kind of puzzling, don’t you think? The fact that DICE have already commented before that the PlayStation 3 version is leading in a specific aspect:
a bit early to make fair comparisons between the two but ps3 has a lead by offloading gpu w/ SPUs
Now, they say something slightly different. It’s a known fact that whichever console Battlefield 3 is played on it’ll look stunning and will probably indeed, as expected, take our breaths away; but you can’t help but think what are DICE playing at?
Sure, DICE do see very confident of their forthcoming shooter and why shouldn’t they be? We’ve finally got a strong contender to battle Activision’s Call of Duty and Modern Warfare series; but maybe the studio are trying to be too outspoken.
Do you share the same thoughts; what platform will you be picking it up on? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
I’m sure the above quote from Bach, however, won’t stop anyone from doing the inevitable comparisons, though. Either way, Battlefield 3 is currently scheduled for a launch this fall.

There will be “differences”.
are you some kind of idiot? the producer said there wont be any difference
Name one multiplatform game that different have some type of difference.. Even Crysis2. People complain about the little things that don’t effect the game experience at all, as far as the second quote goes, who and where did that come from? I believe another spokesperson late last year/early this year made that comment not really sure. That’s not really important, what’s important is that fact in every developing game cycle a certain system will lead design (usually xbox) because of some reason (usually ease of developing). Each platform has their strengths and reasons for being developed first, it doesn’t mean the final product will be fail on the other console.
BF 3 has a new engine and really trying to show it off thats why pc is lead. More power, ram, graphics etc. What I dont understand is why consoles guys would be mad if pc version blew their version off the earth. Don’t be mad at the developers, they’re only working with what hardware they have at the time. If we console fanboys have a problem then we need to take it up with Microsoft and Sony and tell them make a stronger system in all performance categories. I know Dice said consoles are holding them back but why? because you’re trying to keep them similar? I say show consoles how a game this generation is suppose to play like, its more motivation than discouragement for console companies. And that’s coming from a console gamer.
The second quote came from the interview with DICE’s Patrick Bach – Executive Producer on Battlefield. It says it at the beginning of the article.
excuse my first sentence
edit: Multiplatform game that doesn’t have some type of difference
Minor differences on console versions will be due to porting issues NOT hardware.
PC version FTW though….
This article completely skews and misinterprets Bach’s words. He said, and I quote, “All of the core game systems are the same on all platforms”
PC is a platform. He did not say that the core game systems are the same on all CONSOLES.
So way to go, you wrote a completely pointless article.
it will have no difference iam thinking of not buying bb3 just because of the multiplayer.lets tell that there are low powered pcs that can take 64 players.why, because your are loosing in pc players you are whiling to loose your consle gamers.you cannot imagine how much you will loose.not from the prspect of money but even the reviewer are going to fuck you up.lower graphics for iven 40 players online its even better.
Hi great publish! Thank you for revealing your data and desire to observe even more of your posting soon.
This is the problem with consoles, it is way cheaper but the fact that it can’t be upgraded unlike the pc makes it hard for developers nowadays to make the best possible looking game of current time . . . crysis 2 anyone? it runs at 30 fps on consoles and has a bunch of noticeable game bugs, this is the only reason why i’m not playing it on my xbox 360 cause it’s really annoying . . . and now i’m beginning to think that bf3 is gonna suffer the same faith . . . microsoft and sony are to damn stubborn to start on the next generation console . . . the xbox 360 and ps3 keep competing with each other yet their real enemy is the pc . . . if their behavior keeps up then pc will rule the gaming world . . .
I thought Crysis 2 was good even on console and BF3 will be even better ,yay. I don’t care if it will be worse than the PC version no other console game will be better! its probably gonna be better than COD:MW3 and that seems like its competition
Hello all console gamer’s out there!! i am really new to consoles (xbox360) and i have played bbc2 on the highest on the pc and now on the 360 and the difference is a fairly big one but i think that all this competition with the 360 and the ps3 is so stupid like we are arguing over minor differences like colour shading or some fucked up thing like that and you might notice the difference if you had the consoles side to side but its like 0.5 of i difference!! and the game on both platforms will in no doubt look amazing!!! so i think we should all relax and wait for the game to be realest and then we can start killing each other!!!!
Yeah I’m waiting for the game to be out and wait for people to post reviews on the game and how it looks and run on different consoles. With Black Ops, the game ran better on the Xbox because the connection for the game on the Ps3 was terrible. So that’s what I’m waiting for…what system will have the best connection and be less laggy. What I do like about the Xbox though is that more people use Mic’s so it’s easier to communicate with your team.
Im a fanboy of xbox 360 and ps3, yeah there is alot of comarison betwwen these two great consoles but there are the same even pc got a better quality because DICE were working hard on pc while making the xbox 360 and ps3 grapics the same. If u have both consoles think about what controller feels right for the game, which platform is fun to play, how many of ur friends play this game u see the more u have friends the more invites u have in the game to play and have fun with ur friends instead of the rest of the world.
